Yongyi Refractory × Jiayong Huitong: Building an Abrasion-Resistant Refractory Barrier to Empower Efficient and Long-Lasting Lime Kilns
Client: Jiayong Huitong
Industry: Lime Kiln Industry (High-Activity Lime Calcination)
Services Provided: Supply of Abrasion and Spalling-Resistant Refractory Materials & Precision Kiln Masonry Services
Project Background: As a premium enterprise in high-quality lime production, Jiayong Huitong’s products are widely utilized in critical sectors such as metallurgy, chemical engineering, and environmental protection. To meet the growing downstream demand for highly active lime, Jiayong Huitong initiated a new lime kiln construction project. The efficient and continuous operation of the lime kiln is essential for ensuring production capacity and reducing the cost per ton of lime. Consequently, Jiayong Huitong established exceedingly high standards for the kiln’s refractory lining and construction quality, ultimately selecting Yongyi as their comprehensive service provider.
Project Challenges: The operating environment of a lime kiln is exceptionally harsh. First, the continuous falling and movement of large limestone blocks cause severe mechanical abrasion and impact on the inner lining. Second, the calcination zone experiences temperatures exceeding 1200°C, accompanied by frequent temperature fluctuations, which easily leads to thermal shock and spalling of the refractories. Finally, lime (calcium oxide) is highly alkaline at high temperatures, causing severe chemical erosion to the lining. The client urgently required a comprehensive refractory solution capable of perfectly countering “intense abrasion, frequent thermal shock, and severe chemical erosion.”

Yongyi’s Solution:
Premium Product Supply (Zonal Application for Powerful Anti-Abrasion and Anti-Spalling): Yongyi’s technical team implemented a precise “zonal material configuration” strategy based on the specific working conditions of different temperature zones within the lime kiln. For the preheating and cooling zones, which suffer the most severe material scouring, we supplied high-strength, dense abrasion-resistant bricks and abrasion-resistant castables with exceptional bulk density and cold crushing strength. For the core calcination zone, we selected premium magnesia-alumina spinel bricks (or special-grade phosphate-bonded high-alumina bricks) featuring outstanding thermal shock resistance and high-temperature chemical erosion resistance. This not only effectively repelled alkaline attacks but also ensured the structural stability of the lining under extreme heat.
Professional Construction Services (Precision Masonry for Circular Structures): Addressing the unique cylindrical structure of the lime kiln, Yongyi dispatched a highly experienced furnace masonry team. We strictly executed staggered joint masonry techniques, ensuring maximum mortar fullness and keeping brick joints strictly under 2mm. This effectively prevented the leakage of high-temperature gases and structural damage caused by hot ash penetrating the joints. Meanwhile, for structurally complex, irregular areas like combustion chambers and discharge ports, we employed high-quality mold support systems coupled with refined pouring and vibrating techniques, guaranteeing seamless integration and exceptionally high overall strength of the lining.
Customer Value & Results: Following the implementation of Yongyi’s comprehensive refractory solution, Jiayong Huitong’s new lime kiln was successfully ignited and quickly reached target production capacity. Actual operational data indicates a significant reduction in the kiln shell’s outer temperature and a substantial improvement in thermal energy utilization, effectively lowering fuel consumption. The outstanding abrasion and spalling resistance demonstrated by Yongyi’s refractory materials has completely eliminated the need for frequent patching associated with traditional linings. This has dramatically extended the safe campaign life of the lime kiln, generating continuous, stable, and substantial economic benefits for the client.
